Client: UC Berkeley Summer Sessions (1996-1999)
Challenge: To design and maintain an online version of the UC Berkeley Summer Sessions catalog and registration system. In close consultations with clients, each year we've designed and maintained the university's online course catalog and web-based registration and payment system.
Results: The popularity of the site has been astounding, as has been the high-rate of online registration rates (cf. the Testimonial below). The administration is especially pleased because the website has made registrations easier to process and far more accurate than the paper version. The tracking system we've implemented further enhances the client's ability to market and track their services.
Testimonial:
"During [1996-1999], our Summer
Catalog was re-created as a web site each year with great success. In
1999, I estimate that the on-line catalog brought in more than one million
dollars in revenue..."
"In each year, Mr. Duber's role was to design the web site and to solve a number of important technical problems, including linking the site with our database, and creating and maintaining an on-line registration process that allowed students to complete the registration form on line and transmit it to us with a keystroke. Because the registration forms include credit card information, the transmission process must be secure. After two years experience and with thousands of registrations processed, not a single security problem has occurred. In 1999, a change in marketing strategy necessitated a complex navigation process in the re-designed web page. Mr. Duber's solutions were right on target, and initial responses from colleagues indicate that we may have established a new model for our industry that will be copied extensively."
